Hoe Street

The site is located at a prominent position on the corner of Hoe Street and Milton Road just within the designated Walthamstow Strategic Centre and consisted of a two-storey building with an overgrown garden area and an advertising hoarding fronting Hoe Street. The proposed development consisted of the demolition of the existing building and construction of a four-storey building providing 9 self-contained flats, 3 two bedroomed and 6 one bedroom. The proposed scheme took a conventional design approach that reflected the character of the area with the use of yellow facing brickwork and coloured render on the top floor to create some visual variety.

The use of a flat/shallow pitched roof represented a more modern approach and resulted in reducing the bulk and impact of the building when viewed from the street scene.
